I am a sport and exercise psychologist seeking to help individuals and teams to achieve their goals and maximise their wellbeing. Whilst peak sporting performance is physical, there is a whole array of psychological factors that not only influence aspects of physical performance but are key to enabling it. Our emotions, attention, ability to focus, beliefs, inner dialogue and physiological activation levels all interact to determine the psychological state we find ourselves in when we train and perform. I work with people to understand how these psychological processes are working to help or hinder, and how they may be optimised to facilitate peak performance.
I have worked with athletes of all levels - from amateur to World Champions - in the pursuit of their goals. Performance psychology is absolutely something everyone can benefit from, regardless of experience, ability or age. I have worked with athletes from a range of sports including golf, gymnastics, rugby, tennis, lacrosse, swimming, endurance sports, fencing, padel tennis, football, athletics, weightlifting, netball, petanque, equine eventing and hockey.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic and scientific approaches to facilitate people in developing the necessary insight or skills to access their peak physical performance. I am also a lecturer in psychology at the University of Buckingham, which means I am always up to date with the latest theory and research, endeavouring to apply this to my practice.
