Sport Performance Specialist
Sport Psychology Consultant at
FocusPerform
Bristol, England
I provide sport psychology support within sport science teams to athletes, coaches, parents and teams. Interventions are individualised, evidence based, measurable and impact driven. My aspiration as a sport psychology consultant is to guide you to produce positive, significant, and long-term change in your life and for you to perform consistently at your highest level so that you can achieve your sporting goals.
Improving performance not only in a sport setting but with similar strategies applying to exercise, army, acting and businesses. In a sport setting the focus encompasses everything that affects performance such as lifestyle, mindset, performance and mental skills training. George can use video calls for support sessions, where distance rules out a face to face meeting. Video sessions are conducted via Skype / FaceTime / Google Hangouts.
George has availability to support individual athletes who wish to improve their mental side of the game with aspects such as self-belief, focus, motivation, coping with pressure and more. Support sessions are designed specifically for the individual and can take place at the client's home, online, or a suitable venue.
In a team setting, the foci could include team cohesion, culture, leadership and coach-player interactions. Applying his expertise, knowledge and industry experience, George will help guide and offer support with the aforementioned aspects of the team.
Focus Perform offers engaging, professional psychology workshops and talks for for squads, coaches, support staff or students. They are interactive and based around the needs and identity of the club. George consults with clubs and organisations to help the development and continuation of high performance environments.
Focus Perform has extensive experience with running parental education workshops within academy settings in a number of different sports. Focusing on the parent role, awareness, understanding and really practical advice for the sporting parent/guardian.
Focus Perform works with businesses in the South of England and Wales. We help businesses strive for a world where all staff members thrive under pressure, bounce back from setbacks and is happy and passionate about their work life. This means that areas such as leadership, team cohesion and challenges would get covered (depending on the environment and task at hand) by using psychological techniques. Our partner company covers the North of England and Wales (Arcope - www.arcope.co.uk / info@arcope.co.uk / 07976092931)

My son has worked with George for a year and has completely transformed. My son struggled with anxiety which was preventing him playing football, leaving him feeling sick and anxious. After working with George he has grown in confidence and has learnt so much about his emotions and how to channel his feelings to improve his football. My son enjoys playing football more and has used the skills he has gained in other areas of his life when he feels under pressure. We wouldn't be where we are today without Georges help.

George was one of the speakers at the 2021 International Sports Medicine Conference hosted by King’s College London University. His talk was about how coaches can help build players' mental resilience. It was an incredibly professional, well put together talk which gave a practical outlook on how to, not only understand resilience, but put it into practice. Although this was aimed at coaches, it was applicable to our multidisiplinary health care student and professional audience which was demonstrated in the incredible feedback George received from the day. If you need a speaker who is reliable, likeable and knowledgable, then we couldn’t recommend George enough.
