Sport Performance Specialist
Loughborough, England, LE11 3DD
Hi, I am Thomas and I am a trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist. I launched my own sport psychology practice, First Hurdle Sport Psychology Consultancy, as I believe that psychological support should not be a barrier to an athlete's development. Externally to this, I work on the Youth Talent Programme (YTP) and the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) with England Athletics, England Hockey, England Netball, and Sheffield United Football Club. I am also a research assistant with the Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sport at Loughborough University, working in Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball.
I previously competed for England in 110mHurdles and Decathlon as a junior in track and field, and have an array of interests and experience in a variety of sports, such as swimming, rugby, cricket, hockey, and badminton. Navigating sport at any level is tough and my experience as an international athlete allows me insight into the demands sport has and the challenges you may face technically, physically, and importantly psychologically.
I have particular research interests in mental health and well-being in athletes, with my recent publication focused on help-seeking behaviours in elite track and field athletes - please follow this link for more information: https://doi.org/10.1080/10413200.2023.2197962
I work online with clients to cater to busy schedules and flexibility. For more details, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
