My name is Shakira Saleem and I'm currently a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT). I'm passionate about helping others and aim to help athletes achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
Additionally, I have individual sessions and workshops tailored to children in both primary and secondary schools; I aim to help them develop the mental skills they need to thrive in both sporting and non-sporting contexts.
I have always had an increased interest in sport and whilst completing my BSc in Psychology I learnt more about sport psychology and went on to do a masters. Here, I learnt the importance of mental preparation and the impact it can have on performance. This is why I aim to help children and athletes build resilience, confidence and self-awareness.
My approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) where I use techniques such as goal-setting and mindfulness whilst providing a safe and supportive environment that encourages open communication and fosters trust and connection.
