Casper Farrimond:

'Navigating life challenges through psychological flexibility'

About Me

I am a dedicated, energetic, and person-centred Sport and Exercise Psychologist with a passion for guiding individuals toward becoming their best selves. With over nine years of experience across elite sport, academia, occupational health, and the NHS, I bring a wealth of expertise and a commitment to supporting people in navigating life’s challenges and achieving peak performance.

As an HCPC-registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist and an accredited member of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), I combine scientific insight with a practical, solution-focused approach. My qualifications also include training in mental health first aid and solution-focused counselling, enabling me to provide comprehensive psychological support tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Currently, I serve as a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Bolton and am pursuing a PhD at the University of Winchester, with research focused on Trait Optimism in personality.

My Approach

Over the years, I have discovered that navigating life and striving for excellence requires key ingredients: an open mind, a solution-focused mindset, and the ability to embrace the present moment. I help my clients become their ideal self by fostering thoughts and habits that empower rather than hinder them.

The foundation of my work is based on three guiding principles: passion, patience, and persistence—qualities that are essential for personal growth and fulfillment.

My approach emphasises the interaction between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we will explore how to better understand and manage your thinking patterns to enhance performance, boost happiness, and achieve mental clarity. Much like learning to use a computer, this involves discovering the “thinking buttons” that drive positive change and optimal performance.

Experience

I have had the privilege of working with international athletes, coaches, and teams across a wide range of sports, including football, rugby, athletics, boxing, swimming, hockey, netball, handball, and winter sports. My experience extends to providing psychological support, well-being advice, and performance-enhancement strategies that are tailored to the demands of elite sport and beyond.

In addition, my work in academia and occupational health has equipped me to support clients across diverse environments, helping them cultivate psychological flexibility, improve self-esteem, and foster stronger relationships, both within and outside of sport.
